“Un strop de sange creste audienta” e deviza reporterilor TV. Iar o bomba plasata intr-o scoala devine, fireste, o stire de top. Pe care Holly Gibney (cu care cititorii au facut cunostinta in seria Bill Hodges si in romanul Strainul) o urmareste exact cand investigheaza primul ei caz: disparitia unui caine. Iar tanara cu ambitii profesionale mai marete de-atat descopera ca totusi ceva nu e in regula cu reporterul care a ajuns primul la locul exploziei.
In Telefonul domnului Harrigan destinele a doi barbati sunt legate, in mod improbabil, printr-un bilet la loto si un telefon mobil. O serie intreaga de accidente formeaza o legatura inexplicabila, de-a dreptul tulburatoare.
Viata lui Chuck incepe cu sfarsitul si, intr-o cronologie inversa, ne face martorii unor momente tandre, intime din viata omului care moare in primele pagini.
Iar in Sobolanul, un scriitor in cautarea inspiratiei face un pact cu diavolul, sacrificand ce are mai drag pe lume pentru ambitie.
